PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Shelter Staff Intervention:

The program is designed to take minimal time for the shelter staff and fit seamlessly into your volunteer program, including participation in your standard volunteer orientation and check in/check out procedures. Ideally, the volunteers will be self-sufficient and able to set up wherever staff deems it appropriate.

Volunteer Training:

All volunteers must undergo the respective volunteer training required by your shelter. While the intention is to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for the animals, the interactions between the volunteers and animals are the sole responsibility of the participating animal shelters and their authorized representatives. Wild Tunes acts as a facilitator to connect shelters and volunteers but is not directly involved in overseeing the interactions.

Program Frequency:

The program will work best if there are shifts available several times a week allowing a steady stream of volunteers to play music for the animals at designated times.

Safety Measures:

Animal shelters are expected to implement appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of all animals and volunteers, such as providing . guidelines for  the duration of sessions, appropriate types of music, and volume levels. The Wild Tunes experience does not include animal handling. Any such activity would be done as a shelter volunteer under your program.

Parental/Guardian Consent:

If the volunteers are minors, parental or legal guardian consent is required for their participation. Also, parental supervision is necessary during the volunteer sessions in accordance with your shelter’s requirements.

Support from Wild Tunes:

When a shelter enrolls in the Wild Tunes program, we will provide a welcome kit with all required information to implement the program.

Testimonials

"We are incredibly grateful to be part of an event like Wild Tunes: Melodies of Gratitude. Programs like these are essential in helping us continue our mission to care for and find loving homes for the thousands of pets we serve each year. Music has the power to bring people together, and we are thrilled to join forces with the Houston Humane Society, Special Pals, and the talented artists of Houston to support local pets in need. We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the performances, and be a part of this meaningful cause. Your support makes all the difference!"
